NSFAS Sets Deadline For Students To Submit Support Documents
Share on FacebookShare on X

Thousands of students applied for NSFAS funding for 2025. However, students could lose funding if they don’t submit documents required by NSFAS.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is calling on 2025 applicants to submit several supporting documents. They warned that failure to submit required documents could result in their 2025 NSFAS application being invalidated.

NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to deserving students enrolled in approved courses at universities and TVET colleges.
NSFAS funding covers tuition and registration fees, as well as several allowances for food, accommodation, and learning materials.

NSFAS has given students 30 days to upload the documents requested by the scheme. It is important to note that this 30-day period begins from the date NSFAS requested the documents

The government bursary scheme wanted that should students fail to upload these documents, their 2025 NSFAS application will be deemed invalid.

Your application would be regarded invalid should the thirty days to upload supporting documents lapse.

NSFAS urged students to upload these supporting documents as soon as possible.

We urge all applicants who have not yet submitted their outstanding documents to do so urgently.

How To Upload Supporting Documents For NSFAS

Step 1: Log into your myNSFAS account

Step 2: Click on the Document Upload Section

Step 3: Prepare Your supporting documents

Step 4: Upload supporting documents

Step 5: Submit your supporting documents

NSFAS said students can return to the myNSFAS portal at a later date to check their NSFAS application status.

Which Documents Do NSFAS Require

The documents required by NSFAS will depend on the student’s circumstances. Here are a few documents required by NSFAS.

  • NSFAS Declaration Form: To be completed by the Principal of the School or the Social Worker (for non-SASSA applicants).
  • Orphan/Vulnerable Child Declaration Form: To be completed by the Social Worker (for applicants under 18 years).
  • NSFAS Consent Form: To be completed by the applicant and/or parent(s), guardian, or spouse. This form is not required for SASSA recipients.
  • Court-issued Document: Required to prove guardianship when an applicant has indicated a legal guardian.
  • NSFAS Declaration Form (Non-Court Appointed Guardianship): To be provided by the applicant if the guardianship is not court-appointed.
  • Disability Annexure Form: To be filled out by a certified medical doctor or a suitably qualified professional (e.g., optometrist, physiotherapist, or head of the disability unit). This form confirms the student’s disability status, specifies the support needed, and explains how the student would benefit from the suggested support.

It must be emphasised that students will only receive feedback on their application outcome once all necessary documents and verifications have been concluded.

NSFAS confirmed that Sassa grant beneficiaries don’t need to submit support documents.

Applicants who are SASSA beneficiaries are excluded from the submission of supporting documents.
