There is a question a lot of people are asking themselves more than ever before, repeatedly so and it has been that way (for most) for about five years now: What in the world is happening? We have no idea what is going on in the world, in communities, in families, schools, workplaces, hangout places and within ourselves.
Something has changed, there was a shift that occurred, whether we all felt it or it was only felt by a few. We no longer seem to be in control of anything, not even our own lives. Most of us are barely hanging on; we can barely stand, let alone walk under the weight we find ourselves carrying.
Whatever it is that seems to be “in control”, does not discriminate. It ravages everyone, young and old, rich and poor, educated and illiterate, male or female. The black child is under some kind of spell and as a result we find ourselves running away.
For people who have examples of our ancestors, who basically fought with their lives to have a better life, we have become willing slaves. We are the most cowardly generation, the most lost and as a result our kids are also have become the same as us. We are good at running away, masking the pain, wallowing in self-pity, thus, slowly killing ourselves.
We mask everything with alcohol, drugs, promiscuity, being fake, etc. We are angry, in pain, frustrated, stressed and not knowing how to deal with all that, we have become jealous, envious, users, abusers, murderers of souls, families, communities. We are like a pimple that is about to burst at any minute from the slightest touch and we take all these out on those who truly do not deserve it. What have we become?
