The Gauteng Department of e-Government will host the second edition of the Youth Tech Expo (YTE) Hackathon Series, a programme aimed at equipping young people with digital skills, promoting innovation and creating pathways into the digital economy.
Following the success of the inaugural edition held in June this year, the Department will host five hackathons across Gauteng’s five regions, starting with the Johannesburg Region on 15 and 16 October 2026 at Don Matema Hall in Eldorado Park.

At the end of each regional hackathon, 10 participants per region will be selected to represent their region at the Grand Finale in November 2026, where Gauteng’s top young innovators will compete and showcase their solutions.
