Meet Mamello Morabane who runs her own beauty parlour. Mondeor High School has produced a lot of talented learners over the years and one of them being the 17-year old, Mamello. The youngster, who’s beauty parlour which is based in Lenasia, had shown her interest and prowes in hair styling and make-up from an early age. She gained motivation when she encountered mentors in stylists that work in the beauty industry.
In later stages, she became more keen on how the beauty industry works. This led her to do more nail woks as well as styling hair on her peers both from school and home. Her hard work payed off, as her skills developed further, her trade started getting noticed. Her determination to turn her hobby into business managed her to eventually open an establishment to conveniently serve her clients. With the motivation she got from her family and friends, Mamello invested in equipment such as chairs and tables and more beauty materials such as nails, nail polish, and wigs and further in the process managed to build a solid client base. Subsequently the grand opening of her salon Melo’s beauty therapy changed the neighbourhood landscape.
“Operating a business while being at school is not an easy job, but I still manage to strike a balance between my studies and my business,” she enthused.” It takes more time and hard work to fulfill her tasks both at school and business, but her love for styling keeps her motivated and energised.
Mamello’s skills have not only provided her with financial freedom at an early age, but it has also opened more opportunities within the nail and hairdressing industry. As she prepares for life beyond schooling, she will surely thank herself and her family for her own determination and their support for her bright success.
