Easter is a significant event in the Christian calendar, marked by a period of fasting and special services in churches worldwide. According to Christian belief, Jesus was crucified on Good Friday and laid to rest in a tomb. On Easter Sunday, the third day, Jesus triumphantly rose from the dead, showcasing his victory over sin and death. Thus calling all freely to experience hope filled salvation, and be redeemed of the heartbreaks and sufferings they encounter in the uncertain world.
Most churches large and small observe Easter with various activities and extended services. Among these, the Easter Sunday service stands out as a special occasion dedicated to honoring the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. This service often includes worship, prayers, sermons, and hymns that emphasize the profound meaning of Easter. Additionally, churches may present Easter plays or pageants that vividly narrate the story of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection.
Easter is symbolized by the iconic Easter egg, traditionally dyed and adorned in vibrant colours to embellish homes. The festive season also brings the delight of Easter egg hunts, where children eagerly search for hidden treasures. The Easter bunny, a cherished figure, is believed to deliver eggs to children on Easter Sunday, with chocolate bunnies becoming a sumptous popular treat during the festivities. Easter serves as a unifying time that brings together people of diverse ages and backgrounds, transcending cultural barriers to become a widely celebrated holiday.
As Easter approaches, it is essential to prioritize safety measures and adhere to road rules to ensure a joyous, peaceful, and crime-free holiday season for all. As some will be organizing social events, people should be vigilant of assailants who prowl the streets looking to rob them of their belonging. Also those travelling must check their vehicles roadworthiness including public transportation. We appeal sincerely to our fellow citizens not to indulge in nor permit any illegal substances along our roads.
