Many calls from the public have been made as parents and guardians are concerned about the various disturbing events taking place in township schools. As a result, the Kagiso Social crime Police, the school adopted Police officer recently collaborated with their counterparts from 13 Westrand District Police stations, Office of the Gauteng MEC for Community safety, District West department of Education and the community safety patrollers conducted an intervention towards Lodirile secondary school in Swaneville. This as they actively conducted searches on learners as part of the program to root out safety threats at schools.
The Lodirile secondary school is among a few schools in Kagiso that were identified as having serious social challenges such as gangsterism, bullying, violence, juvenile delinquency, etc.
During intensified searches, law enforcement partners found a few unacceptable objects, namely two(2) knives, caps and hats not recommended for school uniform.
The team thereafter proceeded to Tsakani Primary school in central Kagiso where they addressed learners on a number of social issues, including abuse, sexual harassment, cyber bullying, kidnapping and child trafficking, etc. The management from both schools welcomed the visits.
