With a passion for food and an entrepreneurial mind set, Pabalo (Pabi) Mofokeng 28 from the Vaal Triangle, Sharpeville embarked on a journey to start her food business called Pabi’s food court which is located at Vanderbjlpark Vaal gate.
She went to Northwest University (NWU) and a business school to enhance her skills and to learn more about business before starting out.
Pabalo’s vision was born through hairdressing. “I started off by braiding people’s hair then saw how they liked my food, I measured which business would make me more money then I closed the hair salon and persuaded the food business” said Pabalo.
Pabi’s food court serves different kinds of dishes, from kotas to budget plates and platters. She makes affordable food to accommodate every person who wishes to visit her place, with the large amount of orders she gets per day she opted to make use of MrD food app so that she can be able to make her food easily accessible to those who cannot reach her restaurant.
She draws inspiration from other businesses seeing them grow she envisions her business spreading and being different making her food business unique and appealing to the public.
Owning a business comes with a lot of challenges and one of Pabi’s challenge is having to rent out space. Growing her brand and having a piece of Pabi all over the country is what she is currently working on, her business growth benefits the community as well, helping to decrease the rising unemployment rate by employing people in her business location.
She advices young people to go to school before getting into any kind of business, “as you will need to manage the cash flow, profit and put together business plans”, says Pabi. Her everyday motto is “no work no pay”, which encourages her to wake up daily and place every effort to grow her vision.
