It was a memorable day filled with warmth and awe at the Motse O Moholo Home for the Elderly and Vulnerable children at Doornkop on 16 March, as visitors, young and old came to celebrate the mammoth birthday party of the matriarch gogo Rose Dlamini fondly called Rakgadi.
The home CEO Nkele Manka was delighted to welcome everyone who came to share the significant milestone with them. Especially the various community organisations, businesses and individuals who contributed in many ways, goodies towards the success of the special day.
With the Glorious Sounds choir soothing the audience with angelic voices. Home deputy chairperson Priscilla Momoti mentioned that gogo Rose came after they opened the home, she was 91 not seeing nor hearing but could conducted self-care on herself minimising their caretaker duties. She has a gift of prophesy and advises them to pray when adversity looms. Caretaker Nozuko Mazomba also related that they love her, and “gogo is not cheeky but loves her meat, coffee and jam amagwinya. We wish that she could carry on being with us for many more years.” Rakgadi’s designer attire was quite elegant. Nkele (insert left) mentioned that she delighted in spending all the collected acquired donations for intended purposes.
