Let the harmony of jazz inspire you to create your own symphony of success.

Standard Bank Joy of Jazz is proud to announce the JazzWise Music Business Workshop, a unique and insightful program to empower youth in the arts, culture, and heritage sector. The workshop is set to take place on the 18th of September, 2024 at the Joburg Lesedi Theatre.

The JazzWise Music Business Workshop is designed to provide invaluable information and resources to individuals with limited opportunities, particularly those from disadvantaged communities, schools, and aspiring upcoming artists. The program will focus on the Business of Music to inspire, and educate the next generation of music industry professionals.

The workshop will feature presentations by esteemed entertainment industry practitioners and legends, each offering a deep dive into various aspects of the industry, from music production and composition to talent management, law, marketing, and event management. The goal is to impart insights gained during their journeys. and equip participants with a comprehensive explanation of the music business and its applications across different entertainment platforms.

The workshops will feature five streams, each led by distinguished panelists:

  1. BUSINESS OF ENTERTAINMENT, Money Talk: Olwethu Leshabane, Ngwako Malakalaka, Standard Bank
  2. Regulations and Royalty Collections: Lerato Matsoso, Nontando Mokoena, and Spha Mdlalose.
  3. Talent Scouting: Hloni Modise Matau, Osmic Menoe, and Glen Netshipise
  4. PR & Marketing: Phindi Matroshe Mtshali, Charma Maluleke, and Lesley Mofokeng
  5. True to Your Style: Thandiswa Mazwai, Vusi Nova, and Pilani Bubu

The panelists bring a wealth of experience and expertise from various sectors of the music and entertainment industry, and their insights are expected to inspire and guide the workshop participants toward achieving their dreams and aspirations.

The Workshops are poised to be an enriching and transformative experience, offering invaluable insights and guidance to the next generation of music industry professionals.

Mantwa Chinoamadi, CEO at T-Musicman (Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival Producers), stated that the road to the festival is the most critical for the organization.

“We are a quarter of a Century old, which is a great milestone to achieve. Year-on-year, we have sought ways to remain motivational, and most importantly to give back to our communities. The arts industry is one of the huge contributors to our economy, and many of our talented artists lack the much-needed education about this industry. We encourage participation, and thank the panelists who have agreed to lend us their time to empower the next generation of greats!” said Chinoamadi.
