The days walking long distances to school barefooted and without a proper school uniform will now be a thing of the past, thanks to Motheo Community Development Foundation (MCDF) and the Armaments Corporation of South Africa (Armscor) who made the difference.
The two stakeholder partners, on 6th November 2025, at the Patrick Mashigo Primary School, in Reitvallei 2 and 3, in Kagiso, donated school uniform comprising of “jersey, blue shirt, shoes, trousers for boys and tunic for girl learners”.
The handover was like a jamboree with beneficiary leaners smiling from ear-to-ear, an indication that Good Samaritans has answered their prayers. Learners performed creative dances to show their appreciation.
The educators where over the moon as they pleaded with the representatives of MCDF and Armscor to revisit the school as there are more needy leamers.
MCDF, is a Kagiso-based and 8-year-old Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) but it started running fully in the past year 2024. The organisation is committed to champion the fight against substance abuse, with education and prevention, community and social support.
Mmoni Seleke-Pule, the MCDF Director, said they identified the school needs after engaging with community leaders and educators in the area who highlighted the challenges faced by some of the learners. Seleke said they were assisted they partner-sponsor Armscor who assisted towards the purchase of school uniform.

“We are truly blessed that we managed to assist so many leaners within our area. We chose the school because it represents the very heart of what Motheo Foundation stands for, serving those who need it most and restoring dignity to every child and the school is situated in a poverty-stricken area,” Seleke said beaming with smiles.
“We identified the school after engaging with community leaders in the area and educators, who highlighted the challenges faced by the learners. Armscor came on as they always do and the rest is history,” she said, adding that they have so far assisted two schools in the North West.
Ncamisili Masuku, Armscor’s Learning and Organisational Development Consultant, said: “The community development initiatives are one of our corporate social responsibility initiatives and we are glad to work with Motheo because their line of operations is in line with our scope in that they are making a huge difference in our communities, we and are looking forward to work with them.
The School Governing Body Chairperson, John Khutshwa, mentioned that the donation will go a long way for the leaners as the donation will contribute towards their confidence and help them focus on their education.
Seleke concluded their initiative plays a role towards the importance of education and for every kid to feel loved and not sidelined because of where they come from. For more information contact MDCF can be contacted at 1040 Balapi Street Kagiso.
