Children On The Frontline
Sunday, 8 February 2026 – Makotopong Car Museum
South African jazz luminary and cultural custodian McCoy Mrubata will officially launch his highly anticipated new album, Children On The Frontline, on Sunday, 8 February 2026, at the Makotopong Car Museum in Boschkop.
Children On The Frontline is a deeply reflective body of work that carries Mrubata’s unmistakable musical signature, rich horn melodies, spiritual undertones, and a profound dialogue between African heritage and contemporary expression. The album speaks to resilience, generational memory, and the enduring wisdom of African storytelling, placing today’s youth at the heart of its message.
The project is produced by acclaimed pianist and composer Luyanda Madope, whose global musical journey and eclectic sensibility bring a fresh, expansive dimension to the sound. Together, Mrubata and Madope craft a recording that is both grounded and exploratory, rooted in tradition while confidently conversing with the world.
