The Big Clean Up campaign at Dobsonville Mall kicked off on Monday 24 October 2022. The campaign, which is an initiative by Dobsonville Mall Management aimed to draw members of the community to volunteer and be a part of cleaning up around the premises of the Mall.
The Mall’s Marketing Manager Dineo Makobane mentioned that “The Big Clean Up aims to assist community members as well as help keep the area around the mall clean. The primary objective of the Clean Up is to encourage the community to take collective responsibility for the natural environment around them.
This is also an effective way to bring the community together and, by enhancing social bonds as well as make people more appreciative of their common environment.
The campaign will be running one full week in a month until March 2023.”
The Big Clean Up campaign forms part of their Corporate Social Investment (CSI), which is when a company within the community gives back to develop the community and its surrounds.
The members of the community that volunteered for this initiative will be compensated with a Pickn‘Pay voucher.
Dineo further mentioned that they did not experience any challenges when launching the campaign,” We got people who applied to volunteer and the turn up was absolutely amazing from the people who joined our campaign”.
One of the volunteers, Vuyiswa Zondo mentioned that,” I am happy to have started something that keeps me out of the house, I just wish that this campaign can open job opportunities for us which can be permanent for us”
Boitumelo Mogorosi and Nompulelo Masindani both reiterated that,” Despite being unemployed we are happy that we have something to keep us busy and time away from home and stress.”
